SMART Signal Technologies wins US Patent.
SMART Signal Technologies, Inc. is pleased to announce that the U. S.
Patent and Trademark Office has recently awarded a patent (No.
8279086) for SMART Signal technology to Xianghong "Henry" Liu, Wenteng
Ma and Xinkai Wu. Dr. Liu is a professor at the University of
Minnesota and co-founder of SMART Signal Technologies, Inc., the duly
authorized commercialization agent licensed by the University of
Minnesota to market, sell and support the technology and co-holder of

was approved in August with the award made on October 2, 2012.
SMART Signal Technologies, Inc. markets and sells, under license, a
technology suite that provides traffic agencies and engineers with
on-line performance measures for signalized arterial corridors using
existing detector and controller infrastructure by collecting high
resolution traffic data and using it to calculate accurate queue
lengths, traffic behavior and travel times along signalized corridors.
The company also makes an off-line measurement tool that can be used
by traffic engineers to study signal timing for purposes of
optimizing traffic flow and arterial performance. For more
