Calibration of Macroscopic Traffic Flow Model for Nepalese Roads
Rapid development of transportation network and high dependency on automobiles give rise to the evolution of various traffic flow theories. Macroscopic traffic flow models highlight the relationship between speed, flow and density, which has great importance from standpoint of highway planning, design and operation. It also provides quantitative estimates of the change in speed as a function of anticipated changes in traffic demand. Calibration and validation of various macroscopic models is the first step towards creating theoretical background for successful planning and design.
In context of Nepal, calibration of macroscopic model was not done till date, thus this research work try to address it and recommend the best model based on calibration and validation.
